Aviation Civil Engineer

Location: Hunt Valley, MD

Work Model: On-Site

Overview

An established civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Civil Engineer to support aviation clients with the design and management of landside projects . The ideal candidate brings 4–8 years of experience in civil design, with a focus on transportation or aviation-related infrastructure. This is a growth-oriented role for an engineer ready to take on increasing responsibility in a collaborative and quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil projects

  • Coordinate and run meetings with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders

  • Analyze topographic data, maps, drawings, and aerial imagery for project planning and design

  • Perform detailed design computations and support technical review

  • Manage or coordinate with subconsultants and internal disciplines

  • Ensure adherence to quality control and organizational standards

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent

  • 4–8 years of civil design experience

  • Task management experience (budgeting, scheduling, coordination)

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer/MicroStation

  • Skilled in construction cost estimating and technical specification writing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory or task lead experience

  • Road/highway design background

  • Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs, and Orders

  • Familiarity with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria

  • Project management experience (budgets, schedules, team oversight)
