Cost Accounting Controller Location Portland, OR :

A Brief Overview The Cost Accounting Controller provides analytical support, reporting, and financial information to business leaders for the purpose of driving key business-decisions regarding inventory costing. This role has ownership of global inventory costing information and reports financial data for business management and operating purposes. This role partners closely with individuals across business units to support financial goal achievement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Owns the standard costs in SAP and support the related accounting and audit processes to ensure cost accuracy.
  • Partners with Operations, Finance and Logistics leaders to communicate inventory and cost accounting matters and the potential impacts on the financial results. Provides expertise and helps form controls.
  • Oversees the cost accounting processes, including global inventory valuation, purchase price variance analysis, and cost of goods sold reporting.
  • Analyzes standard costs, purchase price variances and other inventory balances. Provides costing insights to the international regions that drives business decisions and consistent global processes.
  • Executes general ledger account reconciliations of all inventory and cost of goods sold accounts.
  • Owns cost accounting policies and procedures. Provides recommendations for global standardized processes and streamlines existing processes. Trains global teams to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Calculates, manages, and monitors inventory reserve balances. Provides recommendations to management regarding reserve adjustments and ensures compliance with GAAP accounting standards.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent work experience Required
  • 7-9 years in Accounting Required and
  • Five (5) with a Cost Accounting focus Required

Competencies

  • Superior attention to detail; high level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of management required.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. (High proficiency)
  • SAP experience preferred

Travel Required

  • 5%

Base Salary: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 yearly This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, knowledge and skills, and location.
