Department Summary

The University Counseling Center and COPE Clinic provide mental health counseling and psychiatric services for the students enrolled at University of Mississippi and individuals in the greater Oxford/Lafayette County community.

Role Summary

Assists in the planning, design, installation, maintenance, and support of the campus enterprise network.

 

 

This position will support the IT needs for The University Counseling Center on the Oxford campus of UM and The COPE Clinic at the South Oxford campus for UM.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Administers and maintains computers, servers, and software in a clinical environment for departments to operate efficiently.
  • Ensures information security policy compliance on technology in the clinics/departments.
  • Maintains an inventory of hardware and software in the clinic.
  • Assists with new equipment purchases, installation, and configuration, including manage and facilitate the bid process
  • Responds to requests from clinic users seeking technical assistance, general troubleshooting on pc, mac, printers, and other technology devices used in day-to-day operations at the university.
  • Prioritizes requests based on urgency and coordinates with other appropriate technical teams when necessary.
  • Adjusts work tasks based on a dynamic environment that operates in areas with changing policies that fall under university, state, and federal recommendations.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves technical issues on-site and remotely. This includes standard daily helpdesk tasks assisting faculty and staff with technology questions, assistance, setups, software, hardware, etc.
  • Compiles relevant clinic data and generates reports for meetings, conferences, and seminars when necessary.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Installs, upgrades, and supports campus enterprise network hardware and software.
2. Implements and maintains packet shaping policies and ACL lists.
3. Updates and maintains campus enterprise DNS and DHCP services.
4. Monitors network and performance to resolve basic and common problems and ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability. Works with IT professionals and end users to resolve network hardware and software issues.
5. Works with end users and departments to resolve network capacity, hardware, software, and security issues such as jack/port level issues and edge network switch installations.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:  Bachelor's Degree
