As a Senior Network Engineer, you will serve as the lead-level technical owner across the full network stack. You will design, build, secure, and operate a complex network environment that spans data centers, municipal facilities, and multi-site connectivity. This is a hands-on role with real influence on long-term architecture, modernization initiatives, and team enablement.

  • Configure and maintain DNS, DHCP, and WINS services.
  • Own patching and software maintenance for network hardware.
  • Implement and optimize network monitoring, observability, and alerting tools.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and standards.
  • Partner closely with security teams to implement controls, authentication, and network protection mechanisms.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Drive modernization projects to improve scalability, reliability, and security across the environment.
  • Plan and execute hardware and software lifecycle strategies from procurement through decommissioning.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of full-stack networking experience across physical, switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, and network services.
  • Background supporting mid-sized organizations with complex multi-domain responsibilities.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting abilities across firewalls, switches, wireless systems, and connectivity issues.
  • Proficiency with DNS, DHCP, and WINS configuration.
  • Experience with rack, power, and cable management in data centers.
  • Skilled in ISP service management and multi-site connectivity.
  • Understanding of network monitoring platforms and troubleshooting tooling.
  • Strong change management discipline including documentation and runbook creation.
  • Skill level equivalent to Cisco CCNP in Enterprise, Data Center, or Security tracks.
  • Comfortable serving as a lead engineer responsible for design through production operations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Designing and architecting full network infrastructure including firewalls, routing, wireless, and ISP configurations.
  • Advanced power, rack design, and data center layout planning.
  • Wireless design including coverage planning and site surveys.
  • SD-WAN design and administration.
  • Experience with zero-trust or micro-segmentation.
  • Automation experience using Ansible, Python, or templating tools.
  • Observability platforms including NetFlow, SNMP, Syslog pipelines, or packet capture analysis.
  • Load balancers or reverse proxies such as F5, NGINX, or HAProxy.
  • Disaster recovery and multi-site failover strategies.
  • Relevant certifications including CCNP, CCIE written, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Meraki certifications.
  • Prior public sector, education, or large campus network experience.
