Torch Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer located in Kettering, OH (Dayton, WPAFB) to support our EPASS GB contract. As part of the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate, the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Initiative (MROi) is a DOTMLPF-P transformation and standardization of both the business processes and enabling materiel solution which provides Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) with an integrated capability for planning, scheduling and executing organic depot maintenance to support agile planning, optimized workload assignment, resource allocation and integrated quality..

As a Software Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Source code, configuration files and engineering resolution support;
  • Develops and applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems.
  • Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.
  • Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Reviews completion and implementation of technical products.
  • Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions;
  • Demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments;
  • Determining and designing system specifications, and standards, and programming/coding and installing solutions;
  • Improving operations by conducting systems and process analysis plus recommending changes in policies and procedures;
  • Advising (licensed) software procurements by researching, analyzing, comparing, and documenting results of vendors and products, which may include installation, configuration and testing (of products);
  • Providing information and recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service related issues;
  • Accomplishing engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed;
  • Developing software solutions by studying requirements/user stories, user/system/data needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following an Agile software development lifecycle

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen

  • (MA/MS) Degree from an in a related technical discipline and 8 years of experience, or

  • BA/BS Degree a related technical discipline and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, or,

  • 16 years of directly related technical software development experience with proper certification.

  • Must possess and maintain a T3/SECRET Clearance

  • Must possess knowledge and experience with any of the following technologies and development tools:

    • Agile principles, methodologies, and enabling technologies, e.g., Kanban, Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, CheckMarx, SonarQube, Zephyr.

    • Cloud platforms, e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI.

    • General cloud technologies, e.g., elasticity, scalability, IaC, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, on-demand instantiation, containers, Kubernetes, serverless/Lambda.

  • Certifications:

    • CompTIA Security+ - Required

    • Agile Certifications – Desired
