Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 position for the Department of Agricultural Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University (OSU). This short-term position will sit within the Chris Mundt Labs in the College of Agriculture's Botany and Plant Pathology unit. The incumbent will contribute to technical tasks involved with two projects: 1) The spatiotemporal epidemiology of wheat stripe rust and 2) The genetic basis of microbiome-mediated genetic resistance in wheat.

Key Responsibilities - Quantitative analysis of field and remote sensing data using GIS and other approaches (50%). Tasks will include use of spreadsheets, statistical packages, and spatial mapping software.
- Processing of microbial and plant samples in the laboratory (50%). Tasks will include isolation and culturing of microbes and preparation of samples for molecular community analysis.
- May have other duties as assigned
What We Require Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
What You Will Need Two years of college-level courses in biological or physical science; OR
an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively among a diverse team of researchers, students, faculty and staff
What We Would Like You to Have - Bachelor's degree in a biological or physical science
- Familiarity with plant pathogens
- Experience with GIS and mapping software
- Experience with microbiome research
Working Conditions / Work Schedule Work will be standard hours in either laboratory or on a computer.
