Job Description

Nanook Recreation at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is hiring a graduate assistant to support evening wellness and recreational sports programming, as well as weekend special events for students. This role involves collaborating with Nanook Recreation’s professional and student staff to design, promote, and deliver activities that foster physical, mental, and social well-being within the UAF community. The primary responsibility of this position is overseeing evening Intramural sports programming. We strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences to apply. The position also offers opportunities for professional development and support in obtaining relevant certifications.

This position will support the programming staff in marketing events and services to customers. Responsibilities include creating flyers, posters, banners, and distributing information via print, social media, and websites. All materials will align with UAF guidelines and Nanook Recreation’s current branding strategy to maintain a cohesive brand identity. The role is guided and supported by a full-time staff member.

To excel in this role, you should be highly organized, possess strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail. A passion for sports, fitness, or outdoor recreation will be a significant asset.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be admitted to a graduate program at UAF and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0


Position Details:

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) graduate student position . Starting hourly rate is $18.50

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
