Credit Analyst/Underwriter
Job Summary :
The Credit Analyst/Underwriter is responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients by analyzing financial data, market trends, and risk factors. The individual will make recommendations on credit decisions and ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory standards. This role is critical in supporting sound lending decisions and minimizing risk to the bank’s loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities :
Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to assess borrower credit risk.
Prepare comprehensive credit memos with detailed financial analysis and risk assessment.
Recommend credit decisions based on internal policies, borrower capacity, and market conditions.
Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Loan Officers, and Senior Underwriters to structure credit solutions.
Ensure loan documentation complies with regulatory and internal underwriting guidelines.
Monitor existing loan portfolio for warning signs, covenant compliance, and renewal needs.
Stay updated on industry trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes affecting credit risk.
Participate in credit committee presentations and discussions when required.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA a plus).
3+ years of experience in credit analysis/underwriting.
Strong understanding of financial statements and credit risk metrics.
Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with credit software a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
